Jacksonville-based sales and marketing company Acosta said June 2 it acquired The Core Group, a food service sales agency.

Acosta said it is combining Core with some of its operations to form a new business called Core Foodservice.

The food service subsidiary will use Acosta's data and analytics capabilities to provide diner and shopper insights for Core's customers.

“This new business will become one of the centerpieces in the Acosta family of companies,” Acosta CEO Brian Wynne said in a news release.

Core Foodservice will have an East Coast headquarters in Tampa and a West Coast headquarters in Chino, California, according to its website.

Terms of the deal were not announced.
