Scott Kashman was named CEO of Ascension St. Vincent’s Health System effective July 1.
The healthcare organization said in a June 18 news release that Kashman, CEO of Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside since 2023, will oversee the operation of Ascension hospitals and medical clinics in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, according to a news release.
Kashman has also been interim market lead for Ascension since Jan. 1, taking on the role after former CEO of Ascension Florida Don King was named CEO of Ascension St. Vincent’s Indiana.
Since Kashman became CEO at St. Vincent’s Riverside, the medical center expanded services to include advancements in its treatment of cancer, brain tumors and cardiovascular care, the release said.
The leadership change comes amid growth by Ascension in Northeast Florida, including construction of a labor and delivery facility at Ascension St. Vincent’s St. Johns County.
Ascension broke ground in March on a Level II neonatal care unit expansion in Clay County and opened an ER facility in April at Beach and Kernan boulevards.
Last year, Ascension St. Vincent’s and Jacksonville University formed a partnership to provide students in the university’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program the opportunity to complete their education at JU and all four area St. Vincent’s hospitals.
“Every decision we make comes back to those we serve,” Kashman said in the release.
“The work our teams do every day has a direct impact on the wellness and vitality of our community. My role is to make sure we have what we need to keep showing up for this community at the highest level.”
Kashman earned his master’s degree in health administration at Tulane University. He serves on the foundation boards of the Jacksonville Civic Council and University of North Florida.
He is a fellow at the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the JAX Chamber board of directors.
