The city issued a permit Nov. 21 for Auld & White Constructors LLC to build-out the new Firehouse Subs location in Concourse C at Jacksonville International Airport at a project cost of $399,000.

Firehouse Subs, which will lose its existing post-security space during construction of Concourse B, will move to Concourse C to replace “The Local,” a grab-and-go concept operated and leased by HMSHost next to Gate C3.

The Jacksonville Aviation Authority board voted Jan. 24 to award a lease to Host International Inc., which operates as HMSHost, and Lee Wesley Group of Orlando, to develop, manage and operate three more food and beverage concessions.

Local restaurant groups Firehouse Subs, Southern Grounds & Co. and Burrito Gallery were chosen to open new locations or replace existing offerings.

The request for proposals said the 868-square-foot Firehouse Subs will be a quick-service concept offering fresh food in either an assembly line or made-to-order format, as well as offer some grab-and-go items. It will be larger than the current Firehouse spot.
