PCL Construction will lead the project to build the Four Seasons Hotel Jacksonville.
The Jacksonville Jaguars on May 6 announced the development team for its estimated $321 million Downtown Shipyards project, anchored by the Four Seasons Hotel Jacksonville.
The Jaguars and its development arm, Iguana Investments Florida LLC, named Orlando-based PCL Construction as the project’s construction manager.
“With today’s announcement of PCL joining our slate of development partners, the Jaguars and Iguana Investments are marking a major milestone in the Shipyards project,” said Drew Frick, Jaguars senior vice president, real estate and development, in a news release.
“With a full team now in place, we’ve fully transitioned from concept to execution. The partners we’ve assembled are world-renowned and have extensive experience. Our Northbank riverfront is in good hands.”
The Jaguars said the project, planned at the former Kids Kampus site south of TIAA Bank Field along the St. Johns River, is scheduled to break ground later this year.
The PCL Construction portfolio comprises more than $8 billion in hospitality construction and it has built several Four Seasons properties, the release said.
They include Jaguars owner Shad Khan’s Four Seasons Hotel Toronto, the Four Seasons Resort Whistler in Colorado and the Four Seasons resorts in Lanai and Ko Olina, Hawaii.
In Florida, its projects include The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island, The Ritz-Carlton Naples, JW Marriott Bonnet Creek in Orlando near Disney World, The Don CeSar hotel in St. Petersburg, Streamsong Resort in Bowling Green and the JW Marriott Marco Island.
“PCL is proud to be a part of the first five-star hotel in Jacksonville, and to build success together with our Jaguars partners, their guests and the entire Jacksonville community,” said Rick Goldman, vice president and district manager of PCL Construction, in the news release.
Additional development partners announced by the Jaguars include:
• Dallas-based architecture firm HKS: The company has worked on 53 projects under the Four Seasons brand, the Jaguars said.
• Atlanta-based IMPACT Development Management: The news release said company will serve as the owner’s representative for the Shipyards.
• Jacksonville-based England-Thims and Miller, Inc. The engineering firm focused on infrastructure and development also worked on Daily’s Place.
• Fort Lauderdale-based EDSA: The landscape architecture and urban design firm also is working on projects in FAT Village in Fort Lauderdale and Lake Nona Town Center in Orlando.
• New York-based ODA: The interior design firm also is working on the Four Seasons project in Puglia, Italy.
Project plans advancing
Plans for the Shipyards include the 176-room hotel with 25 for-sale luxury condominiums and a separate six-story Class A office building. There also is a marina.
The Downtown Development Review Board could approve final designs for the project May 12.
The meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. May 12 at the Jacksonville Public Library Downtown at 303 N. Laura St.
While the news release and project plans say the hotel will be a Four Seasons, the Jaguars have not announced a naming rights agreement with the chain.
The Downtown Investment Authority also must close on the deal for the project site. That is expected by end of May, officials said.
