Baptist Health announced April 19 that President and CEO Brett McClung will resign effective May 1.

McClung joined the system in July 2019.

“This was a difficult decision that I reached after much reflection,” McClung said in a news release. “It has been a privilege working with what I consider to be the best health care team in northeast Florida and I am proud of all we have accomplished together. Baptist Health has always been financially and reputationally strong, and I know they will continue to be this community’s health care leader.”

McClung succeeded Hugh Greene, who served as Baptist CEO for 19 years.

Baptist Health Jacksonville President Michael Mayo will be interim CEO, the news release said.

The board, led by Chair Richard Sisisky, will launch an internal and external search in the coming months.

“On behalf of the Board, we thank Brett for his service and accomplishments during his tenure as CEO. We are grateful for his leadership and we wish Brett and his family the very best,” Sisisky said in the news release.

“We are fortunate to have Michael Mayo, DHA, hospital president of Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, assume the role of interim president and CEO of Baptist Health.”
