Retail notes: Best Buy near The Avenues to remodel; Wawa clearing Westside site

RaceTrac continues work on Atlantic North center.

The city is reviewing a permit application for remodeling of Best Buy at 9930 Southside Blvd. near The Avenues mall.

No contractor is listed for the $150,000 project to patch the carpet floor and reflow the sales floor fixtures with new fixtures and other work.

The work covers about 12,000 square feet of the 45,802-square-foot store.

Wawa in Westside

The city approved site clearing for development of a Wawa gas station and convenience store at 958 and 972 Cassat Ave.

The city approved permits Friday for Realco Recycling Co. Inc. to demolish a restaurant at 958 Cassat Ave. and a pawn shop at 972 Cassat Ave. at a cost of $17,500.

As of last fall, the city was reviewing civil plans that show a 5,943-square-foot store with six fueling stations offering 12 pumps on 1.5 acres at northwest Normandy Boulevard and Cassat Avenue Grunthal & Schueth Properties, through Normandy Boulevard & Cassat Avenue LLC, paid almost $1.72 million Sept. 27 for the site.

RaceTrac in Atlantic North

RaceTrac Petroleum Inc. continues its path to develop in the Atlantic North center at northwest Kernan and Atlantic boulevards.

RaceTrac wants to build a 5,411-square-foot convenience store and gas station with 18 vehicle fueling positions on 1.97 acres.

The city issued a mobility fee calculation certificate that determines a fee of $245,151 to mitigate the traffic impact.
