Over 11,000 residential units are planned for OakLeaf Plantation, a 6,400 acre development coming on the Clay-Duval border. It’s estimated that the total value will be around $2 billion.

The huge development is on former pasture land which opened up with the Branan Field-Chaffee Road link through mid-Clay County that opens up western Duval.

The project will include schools, libraries, playing fields, parks, lakes, bike paths, retail establishments and a Bobby Weed-designed golf course. There will be a $5.2 million amenity center with a 6,000 square foot clubhouse and a water park.

The five planned schools all will be in Clay

County.

Builders include Ryland Homes, Atlantic Builders, Mercedes Homes, Admiral Homes, Crawford Homes, Coppenbarger Homes, The Vestcor Companies and Centex.

The first residents may move in this year, according to OakLeaf President Don Hinson.

The principal is builder David W. Hutson through his Hutson Land Company. Hinson is a longtime Hutson employee.

The project touches Cecil Commerce Center on the west and spreads across Branan Field-Chaffee Road. Old Middleburg Road will run through the development, which abuts Argyle Forest on the east side. Argyle Forest Blvd. will be extended through the property.
