About 150 people attended last month’s SMC breakfast held at the Jacksonville Marriott and that is an indication of its growing membership.

“We have exceeded our goals,” said DelVecchio, president of SMC, more formally known as the Northeast Florida Builders Association’s Sales and Marketing Council. “We have increased the number of new members. We wanted to hit 100 by end of the year and we were at 114 in August. We have targeted a lot of fresh new faces and most, if not all, of the feedback is very positive and excited about the direction of the SMC.”

DelVecchio and the SMC staff have planned several events to increase membership participation and networking opportunties.

“We have the Realtor Builder Luncheon, a silent auction at the NEFBA Gala and a SAM Tram of the Northside coming up,” said Delvecchio. “We are making plans for a tailgate function sponsored by SMC at one of the Jacksonville Jaguars home games. We also have a couple more dynamic speakers scheduled for the upcoming meetings including the president of Florida Home Builders Association and Jerry Mallot of the Chamber’s Cornerstone initiative.”

At the August meeting, Rita Williams and Judith Sisler Johnston of Sisler-Williams Interior Design gave a presentation with easy ways that builders can take high dollar custom home ideas and incorporate them inexpensively into production homes.

They talked about adding dimension to plain walls with texture or cut outs as well as adding in expensive window treatments to create the illusion of high-priced decor.
