Together We Can Make A Difference!

2003...a look back

It’s time to welcome the new 2004 Women’s Council leadership. Jeanne Denton Scheck, President, Bob Sawyer, President Elect, Cheryl Greenwood, VP of Membership, Ruth Berlinghoff, Secretary, and Carolyn Minor, Treasurer. Millie Kanyar,

2003 WCR President

It has been my privilege and honor to serve with a fantastic group of people this year. They have given me many wonderful memories and made my year interesting and enjoyable. And because of them I have grown. I am forever grateful to each and everyone that made this year so unique and memorable. Thank you all.

I’d like to mention a few folks that stand out in my mind. Jeanne Denton-Scheck our President Elect has been a great sounding board and team player who surely continues to grow our chapter. Ann Clark, without a doubt the sunshine in our group. She has worn several hats and will do anything to make this organization the best it can be. She is truly what WCR is all about! Carolyn Minor, Countrywide, our Secretary, who facilitated our ability to pitch WCR at the monthly NEFAR orientation and always ready to try anything. She has been like the energizer bunny, she just keeps on going and has been an excellent partner as we visited the individual offices. Lisa Sawyer of Advance Title, a true pioneer spirit, taking on untold challenges such as our inaugural Trade Show and running with them without hesitation, and with full commitment, a pleasure to have on the team. Jacquie Parrillo of South Trust, whose amazing organizational skills and ability to assemble a crackerjack team insured our Fashion Show was successful. Dan Gutshall and Jim Dunlap of Washington Mutual, for stepping up to the plate with Donna Sadowski, of Mercedes and making our Night of the Stars a reality. Debbie Curro, a real trooper and brave soul who took on the challenge to place our newsletter on our website. A task well outside her comfort zone. LaTonya Lee, and her team of helpers at HomeBanc, a ray of sunshine, always willing to take on tasks and our hostess for our monthly board meetings. Richard Billings of VyStar Credit Union a diamond in the rough we are proud to have on board. Mary Jill Roberts, Commerce Title, the master designer behind the baskets our Chapter has taken to this years Conventions. Heaven only knows where she gets her ideas. I can go on and on and still not do justice to all those that have allowed me to serve them this year. Our old and new members alike have proven time and time again that WCR is truly “Where it all comes together.”

Looking back it is amazing just how far we have come. We have grown in numbers and have welcomed new affiliates. Our website made its debut and continues to improve as we learn what our members truly need. Credit card use at our functions is now a reality. And our new designation, the “Performance Management Network” was launched at the National Convention. This is the most exciting development for WCR because as each of the courses is introduced we will see WCR become the premier business resource center providing education on relevant skills needed to build successful business opportunities. I am very excited and look forward to the programs the next few years will provide.

I’ve been given a wonderful opportunity to learn about many or our members, including those who prefer not to have titles but work just as hard as the backbone of our organization, giving of themselves freely and often. You have each made my year wonderful. I owe each of you. It has truly been my pleasure to serve. I am sure Jeanne will receive your support for the coming year.
