Debbie Davis has been a sales consultant with Arthur Rutenberg Homes in Queen’s Harbour for two years.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR POSITION?
“Rewarding! I am a sales consultant for a great custom home builder which allows me the opportunity to meet people, find out what they are looking for in a home and help them build their dream home.”
DOES SHE HAVE HER REAL ESTATE LICENSE?
Yes.
WHY DID YOU GET YOUR LICENSE IF YOU ARE A SITE AGENT EMPLOYED BY A BUILDER?
Davis said there are additional growth opportunities that come with being licensed.
WHERE WAS SHE BEFORE ARTHUR RUTENBERG HOMES?
She worked as public relations and marketing manager at Colliers Dickinson Commercial Real Estate Firm for three years.
WHAT MADE YOU GO INTO SITE SALES?
“I’ve always been fascinated with residential real estate and saw the great income potential for selling homes in our growing city. Working for a custom builder appealed to me more than selling re-sales. I also wanted the opportunity to help people build their dream home.”
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT SITE SALES?
“I enjoy helping people create and customize their dream home.”
HOW’S BUSINESS?
“Business is great. Actually, it’s been so busy that I am currently looking for an assistant.”
TIPS FOR OTHER NEW SITE AGENTS?
“Be a good listener, be responsive to your customer’s needs, focus on building relationships and most importantly know your product.”
WHY GO INTO RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE?
“After working at the commercial real estate firm, I saw quickly that high risk yields high rewards. I decided that residential real estate suited my personality more than commercial. In commercial you’re dealing with numbers and in residential you’re dealing with emotions. I love people and houses so it seemed like a perfect fit.”
WHAT HAS HELPED HER MOST TO GET HER WHERE SHE IS TODAY?
Hard work, perseverance and determination.
LESSONS LEARNED SO FAR IN REAL ESTATE?
“Prioritizing your time is key in sales. Each day you have to review your goals and objectives in order to stay focused.”
