Northeast Florida Builders Association

Dream home competition is on display each spring in the Northeast Florida Builders Association Parade of Homes. The association invites young, future homeowners to take part in the Parade, too.

The association invites First Coast fifth graders to put their imagination in overdrive and their pencils or crayons to the paper.

Students in the fifth grade can start daydreaming about the home they would like to own someday. They draw a picture of their ideal home and submit it to the Dream Home contest for prizes and recognition.

The purpose of the annual coloring contest is to stimulate interest in the Parade of Homes, said Thompson Taylor, Parade coordinator.

“The contest promotes the Parade of Homes, and it instills an interest in homeownership in children at an early age.”

To enter this year’s contest, which is open to all fifth grade students on the First Coast, draw the house of your dreams. Use 8x11 white, unlined paper and make sure the drawing is in a vertical (portrait) orientation.

On the back of the drawing include name, age, school, parent or guardian’s name, address and daytime telephone number, along with a permission statement from a parent or guardian for NEFBA to use the drawing in future Parade promotions.

Here’s the really good news!

The winner of the contest will receive $100, the runner up will win $50 and four honorable mentions will get $25 each.

For more information, contact Thompson Taylor, Parade coordinator at (904) 725-4355.
