Though many don’t practice real estate anymore, many old timers in the real estate field like to get together to catch up with friends.
Barbara Lester of Re/Max Real Estate Specialists makes it easy for them. She has spearheaded three Oldies But Goodies events to enable those in the business over 15 years to get together and have a good time.
Lester, Virginia Lancaster of Lancaster Town and Country Realty, Betty Taylor of Watson Realty and Vula Trizonis of Watson Realty all worked together to organize the event.
“Every now and then we forget about the super stars from days gone by,” said Lester. “We had a tremendous turn-out. The Oldies but Goodies party is just fun.”
The event allows them to remember and spend time with old friends.
“I think it went fantastic,” said Lancaster. “It was great to see friends we haven’t seen in so many years.”
The most recent event was held last month at the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors main office in Southside.
Over 100 Realtors who had been in the business over 15 years showed up to catch up with friends, look at old photos and enjoy a large buffet of food brought by the guests.
Lester said that 30 years ago the Realtors in the community were all personal friends, but now it is just too big a community for that to happen.
“We were all like one big family,” said Lancaster.
Lancaster and Lester said they are trying to continue the friendships from days gone by with new groups such as the Red Hat Club, travel clubs and other groups that get together to go to shows and other fun outings locally.
