Rosaline Jackson has been a Realtor with Omni Home Realty Corp. for eight months. Her speciality is first-time homebuyers.

BEFORE OMNI?

Jackson was a cosmetologist since she graduated from high school. In Miami, she owned Roxy’s Hair Salon for 10 years. She moved to Jacksonville in 1996 and taught cosmetology for two years at Euro Hair Design. Then, she opened her own salon again in 1999, Millennia Illusion until 2002.

WHAT MADE HER DECIDE TO GO INTO REAL ESTATE?

“I just decided that I was tired of standing behind a chair and I wanted to do something different. I wanted to be more available for my family and more time at home. This gives me that. I’ve always enjoyed driving around looking at homes.”

DOES SHE STILL DO HAIR?

Only for her family.

WHY CHOOSE OMNI?

Addie Carswell, the broker at Omni, sold Jackson her home. “She left an impression on me. It was a wonderful home shopping experience with her and when I decided to come into this profession, I remembered her. She left such an impression on me that I called her and asked her some questions about real estate. She said great, come work for me.”

HOW DO YOU LIKE REAL ESTATE?

“I love it. I have learned so much. It’s a small office and that’s what I wanted. I get more one on one time. She is available to sit down with me and help me. When I started I had two weeks training. She went out with me on calls, she sat down with me and trained me on the system and answered any questions I had. She really has helped me a lot since I’ve been here.”

AREA SHE WORKS?

Westside.

HOW DID HER PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE HELP HER?

“I’ve always been in a profession that catered to people and I’m still able to do that. It’s a little different, but the philosophy is the same. You put your client’s first and your main focus is to satisfy that client. I believe that as long as you cater to the client and you let the client know that while you are with the client, it is all about them and then you will be successful. How you treat your clients will determine how many referrals you get from them.”

WHAT HAS HELPED YOU MOST TO GET YOU WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?

“I believe my faith in God has helped to get me where I am today. Believing that I could succeed in whatever I do has helped me.”

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO NEW AGENTS?

“Do a little homework about coming into this profession and what is required of you. Interview different brokers to see what is required in that particular office because different brokers require different things.”

LESSONS LEARNED?

“I’ve learned that I need to remain neutral when I’m showing houses because my likes may not be my clients likes. I’ve learned to be very careful about voicing my opinion about the house that I am showing.”

PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS

Northeast Florida Association of Realtors.

PET PEEVES?

“My pet peeves are with mortgage brokers. I’m an action type of person. My slogan is ‘For Immediate Action Call Rosaline Jackson’. I mean that. I like things to happen today. When I call a broker or loan officer I want them to call my client today, not two days from now. Just as I cater to my client, I expect everyone in the process to also cater to my client the same way.”

HOMETOWN

Miami.

CHURCH

Christ is the Way Community Church.

RESIDE

Westside.

WHAT DOES SHE LIKE TO DO WHEN NOT WORKING?

Spend time with family and friends and woodwork. “I make coffee and end tables and waterfalls. I use my garage as my workshop. I grew up in a family with a cabinet shop.”

FAMILY

She has two daughters, Sandreka, 17, and Alyssa, 10.

FAVORITES

Her favorite movie is “Left Behind.” A book she recommends is “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. When relaxing at home, she enjoys tuning into “Househunters.” When traveling, she likes Jamaica and when dining out, she likes St. Johns Seafood.
