The Hutson Companies have announced that ground has broken on a second multimillion-dollar Athletic Center at OakLeaf Plantation. Developed by Jacksonville-based The Hutson Companies, OakLeaf Plantation is a 6,400-acre master planned community straddling southern Duval and northern Clay Counties.
Slated to open in the first quarter of next year, the new Athletic Center will provide more than 20 acres of recreational opportunities. With an $7 million price tag, the complex will offer extensive aquatic facilities including a state-of-the-art waterpark, complete with a large, meandering lagoon pool, an elaborate sprayground for children and the Jacksonville-area’s first dual-flume waterslide in a residential community.
The new center also includes a fitness facility, a tennis facility with composition courts for league play, basketball courts, baseball fields, tot lots and a fieldhouse for concessions.
The two-story, 18,500 square foot under roof plantation house features a second floor with a 4,427 square foot banquet facility, which will be available for resident functions. The clubhouse will be graced by an arrival lawn in the front and a formal lawn with pavilions in the back.
This second Athletic Center is a generous addition to OakLeaf’s first Center, which opened little more than a year ago.
“Having experienced rapid growth since OakLeaf operations began just over a year ago, we are thrilled to substantially expand the amenities package, bringing even more ways to play to our residents,” said Deanna Cope, director of marketing for The Hutson Companies.
The contract to build OakLeaf’s second Athletic Center was awarded to Jacksonville-based, Dicky Smith & Company, General Contractor, who also built the community’s first Athletic Center. For the firm’s work on the first Center, Dicky Smith & Company was recognized by the First Coast Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors with its prestigious Excellence in Construction Award.
