Deborah Metzig, the SMC Associate Member of the Year, has been a key person in the growth of Realty/Builder Connection from a mere concept a few years ago to the region’s most respected real estate publication.
It took hard work to build the publication but that didn’t limit Metzig, who put countless hours as well into the SMC and its projects.
In past years, she has served on various committees and chaired a very successful Auction Committee for NEFBA’s annual Gala.
Her work in the last year outdid even the great work of the past.
When the SMC board decided to create a new Special Events Committee, she was asked to serve as the chair. She got to work, organized a committee of fellow hard workers and started planning.
Within a few weeks, the committee had decided on three special events which were later implemented, bringing in over $30,000 to the Council. It was even more amazing in that the committee wasn’t even formed until after most corporations had budgeted for the year, and she still managed to get $22,000 in sponsorships.
In addition, Deborah also serves on other committees including the Realtor/Builder Trade Show and Luncheon, the Auction Committee and the Laurel Committee.
She attended every monthly breakfast and promotes the SMC in every way, making sure that Realty/Builder Connection’s editors are informed of SMC activities. As always, the newspaper coverage of SMC was outstanding.
A proud wife, mother and grandmother of 14 grandchildren, Deborah finds time for her family, too.
