Pensacola developer Dan Gilmore and Orlando insurance executive Michelle Delaney will lead FHBA’s Senior Officer team as President and Second Vice President, respectively, in 2004-2005.
They were officially elected and installed at last month’s Annual Fall Conference in Orlando.
Gilmore was installed by his business partners, Buzz Ritchie and Dick Baker, while Gilmore installed Delaney as the leader of more than 10,000 FHBA associate members.
In addition to Gilmore and Delaney, advancing Senior Officers include West Palm Beach builder Len Tylka to First Vice President and Naples builder John Wiseman to Treasurer. Newly elected Senior Officers are Tallahassee builder-developer Robert Parrish to Secretary and Sarasota mortgage banker Mike Rahn to Third Vice President.
Mike Hickman of Lakeland and Tom Thornberry of Port Charlotte continue on the Senior Officer team as Immediate Past President and Immediate Past Second Vice President, respectively.

Lake County builder George Hansford, Winter Haven engineer Dave Carter and Naples remodeler Tom Lykos have won FHBA’s three most prestigious awards for 2004. Hansford was selected Builder of the Year, Carter Associate Member of the Year and Lykos Remodeler of the Year.
Hansford has distinguished himself over the years in various leadership roles, including as a Second Vice President of the HBA of Metro Orlando, president of the Lake County BA and most recently as a board member of the Florida Home Builders Insurance Agency (FHBIA).
Carter won statewide respect for his leadership of the FHBA Governmental Affairs Committee this year and his work on impact fees.
Lykos holds the designations of Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) and Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) and championed remodeling professionalism as Chair of the FHBA Remodelors Council.

Builders Robert F. Harper III and Paul M. Joyal have become the 44th and 45th members of the Florida Housing Hall of Fame. They were officially inducted during the Fall Conference in Orlando.
Harper is a builder-developer from Lakeland who served as FHBA President in 1996. Joyal is a past president of the Brevard HBCA and has recruited over 1,000 members as one of the nation’s all-time leading Spikes.

Two individuals who spearheaded disaster relief in the wake of Hurricane Charley were honored by the Florida Home Builders Association.
Port Charlotte plumbing contractor Tom Thornberry won the prestigious Dick Baker Award for courage in the face of adversity and Charlotte County B&CA Executive Director Sharon Neuhofer won an Eagle Award for exemplary industry service.
Both Thornberry and Neuhofer suffered damage to their own homes from Hurricane Charley but their attention quickly shifted to leading relief and rebuilding efforts that became the model for others who would be impacted by Hurricanes Frances, Ivan and Jeanne.

Two staff members were honored at the conference.
The Eagle Award was given to Director of Governmental Affairs Douglas Buck for his work on disaster relief and his role in the creation of the Internet-based Disaster Contractor Network.
FHBA’s General Counsel Keith Hetrick was named the Staff Member of the Year for his legal work on behalf of FHBA.
