As the crowd of over 250 sat on the stage of the Moran Theater in the T-U Center for the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors Installation and Awards luncheon, they felt a little as if they were part of a show.

That is exactly what incoming president wanted to instill in the members. In keeping with the 2005 NEFAR theme of “The Art of Professionalism,” that Realtors need to be reminded how important their profession is and that they are “on stage” in everything they do.

Also in keeping with the theme, outgoing president Andre’ Boutte’ of Watson Realty and incoming president Linda Sherrer of Prudential Network Realty dressed in theatrical costuming complete with a medieval cap for Boutte’ and a crown for Sherrer.

Boutte’ recapped his year and thanked the membership for its support throughout his year.

“We’ve grown to 5,100 members,” said Boutte’ “In 2004 alone, we inducted over 1,100 members and I’m sure Linda will see that continue to grow. I’d like to salute all the hard work you have done this year. I thoroughly enjoyed representing you in various meetings, conferences and legislative events during the past year.”

Sherrer was installed as president by Selby Kaiser of Prudential Network Realty, herself a past NEFAR president.

“This is a very special day for me and I’m very honored to be able to serve you,” said Sherrer. “It means a great deal to me and after 25 years in this business it’s a great opportunity to give back. I take it very seriously and I treasure it.”

After the luncheon and installation of officers and directors by Russell Grooms, the outgoing Florida Association of Realtor president and a Watson Realtor, the guests were treated to a performance from aerial artist Tatyana Petruk and the presentation of awards.
