Gov. Jeb Bush has appointed Don P. Wilford, North Florida Division president of ICI Homes, to the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board. Members of the board are selected by the governor and confirmed by the Senate.

The 18-member board includes representatives from general contractors, building or residential contractors, sheet metal, air-conditioning, mechanical, pool, plumbing and excavation contractors. There are two consumer members and two building official members. Wilford will serve a three-year term.

“When governors, mayors and other government officials need the expertise of those in our industry, it’s no accident that the person they select is often a Northeast Florida Builders Association member,” said Bryan Lendry, NEFBA president. “Don is a prime example. He is dedicated to the construction industry and to the community. His contribution to the board will reflect a commitment to a better quality of life for all residents of the state.”

Wilford is a third-generation builder who has been working in the home-building industry for 33 years. Three sons have followed in his footsteps by becoming builders, too. Wilford has served as president of ICI Homes’ Jacksonville division for 10 years.

Wilford recently was recognized as Mentor of the Year by the Florida State Attorney’s office for his work with the Jailed Juvenile Mentor Program.

Wilford also serves on the NEFBA Builders Care board of directors.
