Who will win the second annual SPIRIT awards?
The judging is underway and winners will be announced in next month’s Realty/Builder Connection.
“We’ve had a large number of nominees and the selection won’t be easy,” said Jim Bailey, publisher of the newspaper. “It’s one of those deals where you wish you had a few dozen awards rather than just seven to give.”
There are six categories plus a Lifetime Achievement Award. The categories, and the 2007 winners, are:
Lifetime: George Linville, George M. Linville Corporation.
Service: Sandy Holdren, Realty Executives.
Passion: Karen Sutherland, ICI Homes.
Integrity: Maxine McBride, Clockwork Marketing.
Respect: Sherry Davidson, Davidson Realty.
Initiative: Dane Cates, Retirement Homes of America.
Teamwork: Tina Scrudato, Century 21 John T. Ferreria & Son.
“We started this last year as a way of showing appreciation to people in the industry,” said Bailey. “We are the only publication that is mailed to every licensed Realtor, as well as many builders, and I think we should give a comprehensive award.
“There are many awards each year but we felt there was a need for recognition that transcended the associations and other organizations. We opened our SPIRIT awards to anyone.”
Nominations have been solicited from the newspaper’s readership and a panel will make the final decisions. Bailey chairs the panel, which doesn’t include any potential winners.
Winners receive a specially-cast trophy.
