Members of the real estate and construction industries in Northeast Florida have the spirit and now seven of them have a SPIRIT.

Realty/Builder Connection’s first annual SPIRIT award winners have been selected with George Linville getting the Lifetime Achievement Award and six others receiving category awards.

“It’s our way of showing appreciation to people in the industry,” said Jim Bailey, president of Bailey Publishing & Communications Inc. and publisher of Realty/Builder Connection. “We had many nominations and we think our selections reflect the industry in this area.

“These are people who proactively face issues and set examples for others in both good and bad times.

“There are many awards each year but we felt there was a need for recognition that transcended the associations and other organizations. We opened our SPIRIT awards to anyone.

In addition to Linville’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the other awards were based on the acronym SPIRIT: Service, Passion, Integrity, Respect, Initiative, Teamwork.

Awards will be presented twice: once at an upcoming meeting in the recipient’s office among their coworkers and again at a reception in February.

Bailey emphasized that the awards would be given annually and encouraged Realty/Builder Connection readers to start thinking of nominations for next year.
