It was the ‘50s.

1954 to be exact. The Northeast Florida Builders Association held its first Parade of Homes. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the annual spring event.

The 1950s design is distinctive and NEFBA builders followed national trends. The living room (at left) reflects the growing popularity of television as a necessary item.

For many years, NEFBA sponsored a coloring contest.

School-age children were invited to draw their dream homes.

The drawings were collected, judged and the winners received prizes: a check for the artist and a pizza party for the classroom.
