I’m not sure precisely when I began to notice that time seems to go by more quickly each year.
Now, I realize that an entire year can be over in what seems like the blink of an eye. And, I understand from watching my son prepare to go off to college, time only accelerates as you get older.
Holding the office of president of fifth-largest builders’ association certainly emphasized that oft-repeated “time flies when you’re having fun” expression for me.
In some ways, it seems like only yesterday that I was inducted. In other ways, there are so many memories, so many insights gained, relationships formed and strengthened, gains made in understanding the industry that it seems much longer than a mere 12 months.
As I look back over the year, I am grateful for the support of NEFBA’s executive committee and past presidents whose wisdom, experience and dedication to the association are essential to the stability and good business decisions of the organization.
I can’t say enough about the exceptional staff headed by Executive Officer Corey Deal. Their hard-working, creative and dedicated contributions to the association’s growth and success deserve a standing ovation.
Within the framework provided by staff and the executive committee, the members themselves deserve credit for enhancing and enlarging our reputation as a trade association dedicated to the community as well as to the industry.
Council and committee chairs and members demonstrated leadership skills, organizational talents and the ability to motivate and inspire. So many members stepped up to volunteer and contribute to various projects and causes throughout the year.
To our new members and veteran members alike, I salute your decision to join and participate in this great association.
I count it an honor and a privilege to have served as your president this year. To each one of you, I extend my heartfelt thanks for all you do for this association and our community.
And, I also thank my family and my business associates for their behind-the-scenes help and patience.
With gratitude,
Rick Morales
