NEFBA is no stranger to the award winners’ circle.

The association and its members bring home awards from FHBA and NAHB just about every year. This year was no exception.

What made it special for me is the overwhelming pride I feel about our association and all its members.

David Hacker was named top student chapter advisor in the nation for his leadership and dedication to the University of North Florida student chapter. The UNF student chapter was among the top student chapters in the nation. What a proud moment for all of us.

The students represent the future of NEFBA, the local building industry and our community. To be named among the best in the nation is, indeed, a tribute to the quality of leadership we can expect to see.

Cole Slate and our Sales and Marketing Council both captured silver awards — Cole in the Rookie of the Year category and the SMC in the Council of the Year category. To win silver in this highly competitive area on an international level recognizes the achievement and performance of individuals and the teamwork of groups.

January was my first month as the 2015 president of NEFBA. I’m fortunate to have started the year with these wins at the International NAHB Show.

It’s given me an even greater appreciation of the talent, dedication, creativity, commitment and work ethic of our members. And, it’s been a confirmation of the heights we can achieve when we work together as a team.

Let me add my congratulations to David Hacker, Cole Slate, SMC and the UNF student chapter for a job well done — extremely well done — and to every member in this association for your support and effort.

I’m going to keep this level of success as my personal goal for the year. I invite you to do the same.

Sincerely,

Rick Morales
