'Legendary' NEFBA member dies at age 83

On May 19, the Northeast Florida Builders Association lost one of its legendary members.

Joseph Michael Pepe, age 83, passed away.

Mr. Pepe moved to Miami in the late 1940s but made his permanent home in Jacksonville with his late wife, Linda Beecher Pepe.

He spent 26 years in the United States Air Force as a chief master sergeant and served two combat tours during Korea and Vietnam.

After retiring from the military, he successfully established two custom-home construction business called Jopep Homes and Meridian Construction.

Joe served as president of the Northeast Florida Builders Association and was a longtime board member. He was the first chair of the NEFBA Sales and Marketing Council. He also served as the chairman of the Jacksonville Planning Commission.
