St. Vincent’s Clay County will double the size of its health care facility through a plan to add maternity and women’s services and more beds.

Fundraising for the $33.1 million project was initiated with a gift from Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver. The new three-story patient tower will be named The J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver Women and Infants Pavilion.

An additional 30 inpatient beds, 13 treatment rooms in the Emergency Department and a shell to add 30 more beds in the future are included in the expansion plan for the hospital, which opened in October 2013.

The project, expected to create more than 100 jobs, is scheduled to be completed by late summer 2016.
