As of the end of August, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties report steady activity in issuing new-construction residential permits. Nationally, a Reuters report suggests the U.S. economy “got off to a strong start in the third quarter.”

“The housing market is a leading light of the economy and it looks like that will be the case for a while. My take is the economy is moving forward solidly,” Joel Naroff, chief economist at Naroff Economic Advisors in Holland, Pa., said in the report.

NEFBA builders indicate an increase in confidence on the part of builders and consumers is a result of the incremental growth and steady pace of construction activity.
