Firehouse Subs sponsors “Champions for Justice’ dinner
Firehouse Subs will be a presenting sponsor at the Seventh Annual Champions for Justice Awards Dinner.
The company has for years been a supporter of the organization and has again contributed $20,000 to sponsor the fund-raising event for the Justice Coalition.
“We all hope we will never become a victim of a violent crime, but it happens and we need the Justice Coalition to help us deal with the aftermath,” said Firehouse Subs partner Stephen Joost.
Joost is serving as chair of the Planning Committee for the 2015 Champions for Justice Awards Dinner.
The dinner is set for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at The Potter’s House, 5119 Normandy Blvd.
The annual event is an opportunity for the Justice Coalition to honor victims’ rights advocates in Northeast Florida.
Each year, the organization chooses an outstanding citizen, business leader and government official who work for victims’ rights and help fight crime.
Sheriffs from Baker, Bradford, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties also choose a person in their county to receive an Extraordinary Citizen Award.
Sponsorship opportunities are available at levels, including presenting sponsor, platinum, gold, silver, bronze or table sponsors.
Any business or person interested should contact the Justice Coalition at (904) 783-6312 or email [email protected]. For more information on sponsorship, visit justicecoalition.org.
The Champions for Justice Dinner, originally named the Ted Hires Legacy Dinner, was established in 2009.

Dignity U Wear opens new clothes closet
The Putnam County School District serves nearly 600 homeless students and thousands more classified as low-income.
Through a partnership between Putnam County School District, Dignity U Wear and with the support of a grant from the Frank V. Oliver Jr. Endowment at The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida, there is now a better way to provide local children in need with appropriate clothing for learning with dignity.
After instituting a “model clothing closet” for the Duval County Public School district, Dignity U Wear, in cooperation with the Putnam County School District, has established a “New Clothes Closet” that will be accessible to educators, school social workers and guidance counselors to provide new clothing to underserved, at-risk students.
Social workers will have direct access to pants, shirts, uniforms, jeans, socks, underwear and other school-appropriate clothing for children.
