As we mark the mid-year point, the news is good. Housing permits have continued to climb steadily for the past consecutive months.
NEFBA membership has increased by 94 members since the first of the year.
Our councils are energetic and enthusiastic. We’ve gained recognition in the community and beyond.
We have just completed a successful membership drive, graduated 21 apprentices in the electrical, carpentry, plumbing and heating and air-conditioning trades and hosted another exciting Parade of Homes.
I count myself extremely fortunate to be part of NEFBA. I’m encouraged and optimistic about the industry, in general, and particularly in Northeast Florida.
With the momentum we have now, it might be tempting to become complacent. I encourage you to do everything you can to keep that from happening. I know I will.
With six months under our belts, keep in mind we have six more months of work ahead to finish up the year strong. Of course, at the top of the list of our concerns is the upcoming election.
We have distributed our list of endorsed candidates and I urge you to be active and vocal in support of candidates who understand and advocate for the construction industry.
This fall we have a number of association events on our calendars. The NEFBA Gala in September and the annual Beast Feast in October are two events you won’t want to miss.
The Gala is our major fundraising event and Beast Feast is the area’s premier political hobnob, putting members in direct contact with our area’s government officials.
Each month you have the opportunity to attend and participate in council and committee meetings, as well as social events, educational events and the NEFBA board meetings.
My challenge to you: Make a difference. Show up. Share your expertise, your opinions and your suggestions.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your contribution to our success and growth this year.
It’s indeed a privilege for me to serve as your president.
I invite you to join me in making this year a shining example of what teamwork and dedication can accomplish.
Sincerely,
Chet Skinner
