Officially spring begins at 6:29 a.m. March 20.

At NEFBA, we welcome spring a little early.

Three sure signs that spring is on the way are the trip to Tallahassee to meet with our state legislators, the Trade Expo and the annual Apprenticeship Program sporting clays event.

These events are resounding evidence of our purpose and mission. Our trip to Tallahassee shows that NEFBA serves as an advocate for the industry in the offices of decision makers.

The Trade Expo gives all our associate members a unique opportunity to display their services and products to other members, strengthening relationships and developing new business alliances.

Our sporting clays event supports our Apprenticeship program which serves the industry by providing well-qualified trades professionals.

And, in serving the industry in this manner, it also supports the local economy by providing employment for students and ultimately employees for local businesses.

The highlight of the spring season, and the one with the most exposure, is our Parade of Homes. For 62 years, NEFBA’s Parade of Homes has invited the community to the area’s largest open house.

This year’s Parade is evidence of the growth and increased activity on the part of our builders and, of course, the associated businesses that provide materials, design, décor, services and all the details that make a house a home.

Based on early entries, we are expecting more than 90 homes to be in the 2016 Parade of Homes. Dream Finders Homes certainly got the ball rolling by entering a record-breaking 14 homes in this year’s Parade.

It’s that level of enthusiasm that inspires us all and gives us a reason to be optimistic.

Spring is a busy time at NEFBA and this year we are even more thankful for the levels of productivity we see around us.

I am keenly aware of the demands on your time, and I encourage you to make NEFBA involvement a high priority. Your participation is critical to our growth and continued success.

The calendar is full of opportunities, and I look forward to seeing you as we meet to socialize, learn and assist each other.

Sincerely,

Chet Skinner
