When One Call decided to consolidate its Jacksonville workforce in one place, there was one obvious choice, company CEO Dale Wolf said Monday.

“I very much believe in an urban environment for business,” Wolf said. “It has a totally different feel. There’s an energy that you get Downtown that you can’t get in the suburbs.”

One Call is a health care management company that provides business services in the workers’ compensation industry.

The company held a ribbon-cutting for its new signs that were installed atop its headquarters at the Eight Forty One building at 841 Prudential Drive on the Downtown Southbank.

Installation of the signs, which are 16 feet tall by 80 feet wide, was completed Jan. 23.

One Call is moving 500 workers Downtown from its office in Baymeadows. When the move is completed in the fall, about 1,500 One Call employees will work in the Southbank building. The company also has workers across the U.S.

Wolf said the consolidation was an important step in changing the culture of the company. One Call Management was created when MSC Care Management merged with One Call Medical in 2012.

When your company is built from acquisitions, it’s hard to get everybody moving in the same direction, Wolf said.

“When it’s all here in one building I can walk and see every employee in the place,” Wolf said.  “People don’t feel like it’s us and them and it becomes one company.”

While One Call is using 200,000 square feet, there is about 500,000 square feet of space in the 22-story  building.

Wolf said One Call has the right of first refusal for some of it for future growth.

“As the economy does better, we do better,” Wolf said. He said that employment gains in manufacturing and construction produce more workers’ compensation claims work for the business.

“If we expand and grow our business it will be in Jacksonville,” Wolf said.
