Slowly, but steadily, the hotel business in Duval County is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown.

In the week ended June 14, occupancy was 56%, which was 2.6% more than the previous week.

It’s the 10th consecutive week of increased occupancy, according to data from Visit Jacksonville.

Properties at the Beaches reported occupancy at 82%, the biggest rebound. Occupancy and daily room rate at the Beaches was 10% below the same week in 2019.

Downtown and the Northside/airport sectors reported the lowest rebounds. Those areas were the most affected by the pandemic’s impact on the travel and convention industry.

Downtown occupancy was 32.6%, which was 58.3% lower than last year. Northside/airport properties reported 47.6% occupancy, 39.4% behind 2019.

Total room revenue in Duval County for the week was $5.9 million, nearly 40% below the same week last year.
