After announcing it would cease publication May 5 during the COVID-19 pandemic, Folio Weekly said on its social media accounts June 8 it will launch Folio 2.0.

“Independently, locally owned journalism is back. No paywalls. Your stories. Bolder than ever,” the post read.

The post asked for those with story ideas or who want to advertise to contact the publication.

In response to a reply on its Twitter account, Folio Weekly said it was “debating a youth movement” that could include kids’ games or stories from local youth.

“We will all be represented,” it wrote.

Folio Weekly Publisher Sam Taylor cited “the economic freefall of this outbreak” as reason for shutting down the publication.

Folio declined to be interviewed about the new publication.

“We will have more information soon,” the account said in response to a Twitter direct message, asking for details on the new publication.

Former Folio Editor Georgio Valentino would not elaborate about Folio 2.0.

“It’s a mystery,” he wrote in a Facebook message.
