Ellianos Coffee, a chain that primarily operates as a drive-thru-only concept, is permitted to build-out a shop in St. Augustine with indoor seating.
St. Johns County issued a permit Dec. 18 at a project cost of $1.85 million.
The shop is planned at 3465 U.S. 1, Suite 101, in a 12,532-square-foot shopping center at northwest U.S. 1 and Old Moultrie Road, about 1.5 miles north of Publix Super Markets at Moultrie Square.

Site plans show a 1,450-square-foot shop, of which 448 square feet will be reserved for seating. Restrooms and a single drive-thru are shown.
According to the Ellianos website, the average store size is about 800 square feet.
In October, Ellianos called the store “its first-ever end-cap café location in the state of Florida.”
An end cap refers to a storefront space at either end of a retail shopping center.
Moultrie Properties owns the land. Miami-based Ernest Construction FL Inc. is listed as the contractor on the permit.

The Ellianos menu includes hot and iced coffee beverages, freezers, smoothies, shakes, refreshers, tea, energy drinks and other beverages.
Food items vary by location and include breakfast bowls, sandwiches, bagels, pastries, lunch sandwiches with chips, and snacks.
Daily hours vary, opening from 6-8 a.m. and closing from 6-9 p.m.
Ellianos, which franchises, has locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. In April, it announced plans for Mississippi.
Scott and Pam Stewart established the company in 2002 in Lake City.
