Plans for a drive-thru-only Smoothie King in Ponte Vedra Beach are moving forward after St. Johns County issued a building permit to Jacksonville contractor Dimension Construction on Dec. 29.
The store is planned at 854 Florida A1A N. between Walgreens and The Fresh Market in a space formerly occupied by Chase Bank.
It will be the smoothie chain’s third location in the county, joining stores at 550 Durbin Pavilion Drive, Suite G107, in Saint Johns, and 1835 U.S. 1, Suite 113, in St. Augustine.
The project cost for the 704-square-foot location is $625,000.
Ahead of permitting, the project was reviewed by the Ponte Vedra-Palm Valley Architectural Review Committee and the county’s Planning and Zoning Agency in February.
The Dallas-based company, founded in 1973, operates more than 1,300 stores worldwide offering smoothies, juices, bowls and snacks, according to its website.
