Glastonbury, Connecticut-based smoothie chain Fresh Monkee is coming to Northeast Florida in Ponte Vedra Beach.
It plans its first area shop at 330 Florida A1A N., Suite 300, in the Shoppes of Ponte Vedra, replacing Le Macaron French Pastries.
Other businesses in the shopping center include Bellezza Salon and Boutique, JJ’s Liberty Bistro and Talbots.
St. Johns County is reviewing wall signage plans submitted July 23 by Taylor Sign & Design of St. Augustine.
Fresh Monkee is pursuing a build-out permit, indicating it intends to modify the space. Jacksonville-based Interior Buildout is the contractor.
The chain was established in 2014. On freshmonkee.com, founder Judy Flynn said, “My quest to find a truly healthy protein shake began in 2014. Back then, too many places relied on mystery powders and sugary flavor shots, calling them ‘healthy.’ I knew we could do better.
“So I brought my kitchen — packed with real, all-natural ingredients — to the public and launched Fresh Monkee, with one mission: to create healthy protein shakes made with full transparency.”
Smoothies on Fresh Monkee’s menu include Cinnamon Toast, made with milk, vanilla protein, Nutella, nutmeg, graham crackers and banana; Antioxidant Berry, made with coconut water, pomegranate juice, orange juice, vanilla protein and mixed berries; and Filthy Monkee, made with milk, chocolate protein, a brownie protein bar and peanut butter.
Smoothie prices are $9.25 to $12.50.
The Ponte Vedra Beach store would be its second in Florida. It has a shop in Davie, west of Fort Lauderdale.
The company, which franchises, has nine locations in Connecticut, two in California and one in Arizona.
In Florida, the Fresh Monkee website shows stores are coming soon in Tampa, Palm Harbor and Jacksonville in addition to Ponte Vedra.
