Signs point to activity at Durbin Park Walk On’s Sports Bistreaux

The restaurant co-owned by Drew Brees and that has been unfinished for years is issued a sign permit.

A sign permit issued by St. Johns County indicates plans for a sports bar co-owned by former NFL quarterback Drew Brees is back on after two years.

The county issued the permit Sept. 17 at a project cost of $3,500 for Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux in The Pavilion at Durbin Park.

The county issued a building permit for the restaurant in 2023 at a project cost of $2.5 million. The almost 7,500-square-foot restaurant shell was constructed, but it remains unfinished.

Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux says the restaurant is “coming soon.”

The restaurant, at 495 Durbin Pavilion Drive, is in front of the Cinemark Durbin Park and XD theater.

The Pavilion is at Florida 9B and West Peyton Parkway off Interstate 95 in northwest St. Johns County.

Walk-On’s opened Sept. 9, 2003, near Louisiana State University’s Tiger Stadium. 

Walk-On’s franchises and says it has almost 80 restaurants in 15 states. There are seven in Florida, with the closest in Orlando and Tallahassee. Its Pensacola location closed in 2023.

Walk-On’s describes itself as “a place where over-the-top enthusiasm and culture is the daily norm.”

An online menu shows starters, classics, salads, burgers, seafood, sandwiches, po’boys, wraps, tacos, sides, desserts and specialties, as well as a bar drink menu.

Another Brees restaurant, Small’s Sliders, is also planned in the county. It is under review.

Brees played for the New Orleans Saints and San Diego Chargers and retired after the 2020 season.

Walk-On’s says it was founded in 2003 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, by LSU basketball players Brandon Landry and Jack Warner. Partners include Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, retired Tampa Bay linebacker Derrick Brooks and Clemson University head football coach Dabo Swinney.
