GrayRobinson shareholder and Admiralty and Maritime Team Leader James Moseley Jr.  is the new president of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, for a two-year term beginning May 1, 2026.

The appointment marks the culmination of years of service with the MLA, during which Moseley served on the board of directors and as an officer, including first vice president, second vice president and secretary.

“Jim Moseley’s election as president of the MLA is a tremendous honor, and further cements GrayRobinson’s position as a national leader in maritime law,” GrayRobinson President and CEO Dean Cannon said in a news release.

“Jim is among the most respected maritime attorneys in the country, and his selection to lead the MLA reflects the caliber of talent and depth of commitment that define our Admiralty and Maritime Team. Since joining GrayRobinson, Jim and his team have expanded our maritime and transportation practices, elevating our capabilities for clients across Florida and around the world,” Cannon said.

As president, Moseley will lead the association in furthering its mission and strengthening its role as a voice in maritime law in the U.S. and internationally.

His father, James Moseley Sr., was MLA president from 1996 to 1998 and GrayRobinson of counsel Robert Parrish served in the role from 2012 to 2014.

The Moseleys are the only father-son duo to have served as president of both the MLA and the Jacksonville Bar Association.

Moseley’s practice encompasses litigation, commercial transactions, regulatory compliance and nonlitigation counseling for shipowners, operators, insurers, logistic companies, railroads and other transportation clients.

His work includes maritime casualties, cargo claims, maritime finance and charter negotiations as well as regulatory proceedings before the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Transportation Safety Board.

In addition to his MLA leadership, Moseley is a member of the Comité Maritime International and a member of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute.

The MLA’s membership comprises about 2,200 lawyers, judges, admiralty law professors and maritime industry professionals.
