When the 2026-27 class of first-year students arrives in early August, there will be more than 100 new names on Jacksonville University College of Law’s roll call.
“The summer is whizzing by. We are getting ready to welcome a new class of 110 incredible talented aspiring layers from 16 states and Canada,” said College of Law Dean Nick Allard.
While the faculty and staff at Jacksonville’s law school are preparing for the new academic year, Paul Murphree, an assistant professor, is working with The 5 & Dime Theatre Co. on its latest production.
Murphree describes 5 & Dime as a “community theatre dedicated to producing thought-provoking and challenging work.”
He moderates panel discussions including Q&A with community panelists and the audience after the matinee of each production.
“The next production, ‘American Son,’ is about, among other things, policing in the Black community, set in the waiting room of a police station when a Black teenager goes missing,” Murphree said.
The play opens July 31 with performances through Aug. 8.
After the matinee performance Aug. 2, Murphree will be joined by JU professor Melissa Coll and Ky’Eisha Black, assistant director of student affairs at Howard University School of Law.
