Amazon developer explores Craig Airport non-aviation land for Jacksonville delivery center

Seefried Industrial Properties Inc. is considering plans for a 131,512-square-foot distribution facility for the online retailer.

An apparent Amazon.com delivery station is in review for Jacksonville Aviation Authority property targeted for industrial development near Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport in East Arlington.

The St. Johns River Water Management District is reviewing plans for Seefried Industrial Properties Inc. to develop a 131,512-square-foot delivery station on a 77.53-acre site at 855 St. Johns Bluff Road N.

“We have been working with a developer for some time as they do their due diligence on development at JaxEx,” said JAX Airport Director of External Affairs Michael Stewart on Oct. 26.

The site is on the east end of  the airport property, which is at northeast St. Johns Bluff Road and Atlantic Boulevard.

Craig is the authority’s airport for corporate aviation and flight training.

It has non-aeronautical acreage around the airport that can be developed and does not impede aviation activity.

Stewart declined to identify the tenant and referred questions to Atlanta-based Seefried. A Seefried representative was not immediately available for comment.

Seefried Industrial Properties, which has developed facilities for Amazon.com in Jacksonville and elsewhere, applied for an environmental resource permit.

Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc. is the civil engineer.

LG2 Environmental Solutions is the environmental consultant.

Amazon.com opened its first Jacksonville fulfillment center Sept. 1, 2017, near Jacksonville International Airport in North Jacksonville.

Amazon.com is not named on the water management district plans, which identifies the project as DJX4, a style used by the Seattle-based e-commerce retailer.

The DJX designation is Amazon’s code for a Jacksonville delivery station, where packages are sent for the final leg of distribution to customers.

The Craig Airport project is described as a warehouse distribution facility with associated parking, utility and stormwater infrastructure.

Amazon delivery stations identified in the area include DJX1, a delivery station at Cabot Commerce Circle in North Jacksonville; DJX2, a delivery station along Blanding Boulevard in West Jacksonville; and DJX3, a package delivery service hub at 250 Busch Drive E. in North Jacksonville

Other Amazon centers include:

JAX2, a fulfillment center on Pecan Park Road in Northwest Jacksonville.

JAX3, a fulfillment center in Cecil Commerce Center in West Jacksonville.

JAX5, a sortation center in Westside Industrial Park.

JAX7, a softlines fulfillment center in Imeson Park in North Jacksonville.

JAX9, a sortation center in AllianceFlorida at Cecil Commerce Center.
