Airport adding coffee, seafood in new Concourse B

New-to-JIA options are in city review for travelers in the $344 million project.

Three more tenants are preparing to start work toward opening in Concourse B, the six-gate addition under construction at Jacksonville International Airport.

Concourse B is expected to open by year-end, bringing new flavors and options to the North Jacksonville airport at 2400 Yankee Clipper Road.

Salt & Tide, Starbucks and Pura Bean Coffee Co. are in city review for build-out.

• Salt & Tide is in review at an estimated project cost of $1 million in 3,237 square feet of space.

• Starbucks is in review at an estimated $788,900 in 1,286 square feet of space. The coffee shop was in a food court that closed for construction of Concourse B, although it has another location in Concourse C.

• Pura Bean is in review at an estimated $600,000 in 1,496 square feet of space. 

The Jacksonville Aviation Authority board approved lease agreements to bring Cantina Louie Mexican Street Food, Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, Pura Bean Coffee Co., Salt & Tide, V Pizza and Willie Jewell’s Old School Bar-B-Q to Concourse B.

Paradies Lagardère Travel Retail will manage Pura Bean and Salt & Tide.

On Feb. 2, the board unanimously approved 15-year lease agreements for Pura Bean and Salt & Tide to operate in JIA’s Concourse B, which is under construction.

According to a JAA staff report, seafood is prominent on the Salt & Tide menu, but the restaurant also serves burgers, chicken and vegetarian dishes.

Salt & Tide operates bar kiosks at Myrtle Beach International Airport and Sarasota Bradenton International Airport. 

JAA Senior Properties Manager Jeff Taylor told the board the larger, full-service restaurant planned at JIA is a new concept and also is the first seafood restaurant at JIA since the airport opened in 1968.

Pura Bean, founded in 1997 at 14286 Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville serves locally roasted coffee, breakfast croissants and other baked goods. It plans to partner with Jacksonville bakery Village Bread and Bagel to expand its menu at the airport.

“Both restaurants enhance the airport’s concession lineup with a distinct local feel featuring a wide selection of grab-and-go options, including sandwiches, wraps, salads, grain bowls and more,” the staff report says.

Host International Inc. will manage the concourse’s 3,814-square-foot Oak & Ocean Food Hall, under construction at a project cost of $6.285 million. Starbucks will be in that hall.

Postcards from Jacksonville, The Beaches@Jax, Seven Bridges Marketplace and Five Points General Store also will open in the new concourse and at baggage claim.

They will sell travel essentials, locally made items and brands including Lego, Toys R Us and Sweet Pete’s Candy. 

Construction on the $344 million, 186,733-square-foot, three-level Concourse B began in July 2024.

Balfour Beatty Construction LLC of Orlando is the construction manager. Jacobs Engineering of Gainesville is the lead design engineer and Jacksonville-based RS&H Inc. is the architectural subcontractor.
