It’s BBVA now in the U.S., dropping the “Compass.”

The Madrid-based bank announced in April that it will discontinue local names in the U.S., Argentina and Mexico.

BBVA bought Alabama-based Compass Bancshares in 2007. At BBVA’s main Jacksonville office at 10060 Skinner Lake Drive, the city issued three permits Monday for BBVA signs on the south, east and north elevations.

Anchor Sign Inc. is the contractor for the $13,601 project.

Spokeswoman Christina Anderson said the bank will change all branch signs, but dates for that are being worked out.
