Campeche Bay Cantina in Jacksonville Beach announced Monday it will close Wednesday after more than three decades in business.

Two of the three owners are retiring and the decision was made to close the Jacksonville Beach restaurant at 127 First Ave. N.

“We opened this restaurant as three young guys and now, after 33 years, it’s time to close this door and move to the next chapter of our lives," said Vince McGuire, co-owner, in a news release.

Campeche Bay originally opened in 1986 in Arlington and opened a second location in 1998 in Jacksonville Beach.

Owners closed the Arlington location in 2007 to focus on the Jacksonville Beach business.

“We are extremely appreciative of our employees, customers, and the cities of Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach for supporting us over our many years of operating," said co-owner Dave Boulier.

The release said the third partner, co-owner Tom Sprowell, sees an opportunity for a new venture. "As one door closes, another one opens," he said.

Campeche Bay Cantina said it serves authentic, New Mexico-style Mexican food in a relaxed family atmosphere.

Jacksonville Daily Record news partner News4Jax reported the owners said they are selling the building.
