The 40th annual Jacksonville Jazz Festival will be held this fall, more than a year after the event was canceled in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The city Division of Sports and Entertainment announced in a news release that the festival will begin Sept. 29 with the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition at the Florida Theatre.

The event will continue Oct. 1-3 with two stages of free, live entertainment. The piano competition is sponsored by Keyboard Connection — The Piano Place, the release said.

The release said it will announce artists, locations VIP ticket packages, seating on the Jacksonville Jazz Festival social media feeds and at jacksonvillejazzfest.com.

The festival was scheduled May 21-24, 2020, before the event was canceled because of restrictions on mass gatherings.
