Tim Tebow's PDQ restaurant planned in South Jacksonville is a $1.1 million construction project.

The City is reviewing a building-permit application and plans for the one-story "People Dedicated to Quality" restaurant at 3260 Hodges Blvd. in Hodges Pointe Plaza.

PDQ is a Tampa-based chicken sandwich chain. Its menu features chicken tenders along with chicken and turkey sandwiches, salads, sides and shakes.

Plans show a 3,600-square-foot restaurant with 445 square feet of exterior patio space. No contractor is specified. BDG Architects of Tampa is the project designer.

As reported in May, the hometown quarterback's restaurant is planned next to Bob Evans restaurant in the shopping center, at Hodges and Beach boulevards.

The shopping center development property is owned by the Pablo West Land Trust, part of Sleiman Enterprises.

Plans filed previously with the St. Johns River Water Management District were prepared for Calusa Asset Partners of Tampa.

TBO.com, the news site of the Tampa Tribune, reported April 28 that Tebow plans to open the PDQ restaurant in Jacksonville by late summer.

Tebow, 25, played at Nease High School, the University of Florida, the Denver Broncos and the New York Jets. The Jets cut him in April and the New England Patriots signed him earlier this month.

The TBO.com site said Tebow is financially backing several North Florida locations of the chain. The site said Tebow's brother Robby helped craft the deal. Robby Tebow is president of XV Enterprises, which handles the off-field business activities for Tim.

TBO.com said PDQ doesn't technically franchise locations. Instead, investors privately back a new location and share in the proceeds while PDQ retains control of day-to-day operations.

The eatpdq.com site says PDQ opened its doors in 2009 in Cornelius, N.C., under the name Tenders. The first PDQ restaurant opened Oct. 30, 2011, in Tampa.

The site shows nine locations open in Florida and North Carolina and plans for seven more in the Southeast.

It shows the Jacksonville restaurant as "coming soon."

TBO.com reported that several PDQ restaurants backed by Tebow could open in Gainesville, Ocala and the Jacksonville area, with others coming to Georgia.

The permit application lists the Jacksonville project owner as PDQ Jacksonville – Hodges Pointe Propco LLC.

PDQ Jacksonville – Hodges Pointe Propco LLC and PDQ Jacksonville – Hodges Pointe Restaurant Co. LLC were registered with the state in March.

CBRE build-out approved

The City OK'd renovations for CBRE's Downtown offices in One Enterprise Center at 225 Water St.

Turner Construction Co. is the contractor for the $620,000 project to renovate 8,628 square feet of space on the first floor in No. 110, where the commercial real estate services firm has operated since 1999.

Furnishings and other features are expected to boost that amount.

As reported May 7, plans show the renovations will consist of selective demolition and construction of new partitions and finishes and for electrical, mechanical and fire protection systems.

CBRE has relocated to the second floor of the office building during construction, which should be completed later this summer.

Plans show an open floor plan with a café break room featuring a new seating design.

The architect is Gensler of Tampa.
