Civil engineer England-Thims & Miller Inc. asked JEA to determine the availability of utility services for the proposed Fidelity National Information Services Inc. headquarters of 356,750 square feet of new office space and parking on 4.5 acres at 323 Riverside Ave. on land owned by Florida Blue.

Forest Street parking garage

The St. Johns River Water Management District issued a permit Oct. 16 to the city for construction and operation of a stormwater management system for the 2.28-acre “Forest Street Parking Garage” proposed at Forest, Park and Magnolia streets in the Brooklyn area.

The city will transfer ownership of the site for construction of the 869-space Florida Blue parking garage.

Florida Blue at Deerwood Park

Florida Blue continues to renovate its seven-building Southside property at 4800 Deerwood Campus Parkway. The city issued a permit for Danis Builders LLC to renovate the six-story, 174,879-square-foot Building 600 at a cost of almost $7.1 million.

The Jacksonville-based insurer said in 2017 it would renovate five of its seven buildings at the campus to include mechanical, electrical, plumbing and interior feature improvements.

Chill Build adding racking systems

Chill Build Jacksonville LLC applied to the city for a permit to add racking systems to its refrigerated storage plant under development at 5459 Doolittle Road.

DEEM LLC of Indianapolis is the contractor for the $2 million project. The two-story, 222,834-square-foot building is on 13.25 acres in West Jacksonville.

The city issued a permit July 1 for DEEM to build a $43.5 million Preferred Freezer Services facility for Chill Build Jacksonville.

Preferred Freezer Services, a national refrigerated storage warehouse company, proposes to create at least 40 jobs.

City Council adopted legislation in February to provide $1.2 million in grants to Preferred Freezer Services of Jacksonville II LLC for the project.

The project would create the jobs, at an average annual wage of $47,775, by year-end 2021.
