Bank of America has named School Board member Martha Barrett community relations manager for North Florida. She will be based in the Bank of America building downtown and will serve as a liaison between Bank of America, Jacksonville, Northeast Florida and the Panhandle.

“I’m delighted to announce that Martha is assuming this important leadership role at Bank of America,” said Cecil M. “Mac” Holley, president, Bank of America Jacksonville. “Martha brings tremendous strength to our team with her political and community relations experience in Jacksonville, across the state of Florida and in Washington, D.C. Her contacts and community knowledge will be a valuable addition to our Florida team.”

Her responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships with business, civic, political and community leaders and organizations in Bank of America community markets across Northeast Florida.

Barrett most recently served as manager of business development for King Company. She worked as a public relations consultant and as a public affairs practitioner for the chairman of the board of the now-defunct Independent Life Insurance Company. From 1979 to 1987, Barrett was director of communications for Mayor Jake Godbold. She served as public information officer for the U.S. Fire Administration at the Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C.
