Five new judges were sworn in Tuesday to the Duval County Court and 4th Judicial Circuit Court.
Chief Judge Mark Mahon administered the oath of office to county Judges Michael Bateh and Kimberly Sadler and to Circuit Judges Collins Cooper, Katie Dearing and Maureen Horkan.
Bateh is a former public defender; Cooper is a former assistant state attorney.
Dearing was in private practice when she was elected and is president of the Jacksonville Bar Association.
Horkan is a former private practice attorney.
Sadler is a former public defender and was in private practice when she was elected.
Northeast Florida’s sixth new judge, Assistant State Attorney Erin Perry, who was appointed by Gov. Rick Scott on Monday to the Duval County Court, also will be sworn in this month, said Trial Court Administrator Joe Stelma.
