Tenant improvements were approved Wednesday for Fanatics, the global e-commerce company that sells licensed sportswear, to build-out a satellite office in Jacksonville, almost next door to the location of its East Coast headquarters.

The city issued a permit for Auld & White Constructors LLC to remodel 40,583 square feet of space for Fanatics at 8301 Cypress Plaza Drive, Building 5, in Cypress Business Center, at a cost of $1.81 million.

Gresham Smith is the architect.

Plans show it as the Jacksonville Satellite Office with open office space, training rooms, huddle and conference rooms, phone rooms and a break room.

Fanatics operates its East Coast headquarters nearby at 8100 Nations Way in Cypress Point Business Park.

Fanatics, founded in Jacksonville, sells licensed sports merchandise worldwide through e-commerce.

It has operating offices and fulfillment centers in the United States, U.K., Germany, Spain, India, Hong Kong and Japan.

Its West Coast headquarters is in San Mateo, California.
