VyStar Credit Union will move its Downtown branch from the first floor of the Ed Ball Building, at 214 N. Hogan St., to the former SunTrust Bank branch, on the first floor of VyStar Tower, by early 2020.

Jacksonville-based VyStar intends to make the tower, at 76 S. Laura St., its headquarters.

VyStar Vice President of Community Engagement and Sponsorship Amanda Crawford confirmed the move Tuesday during a presentation at the Downtown Vision Inc. quarterly stakeholders meeting at the Ed Ball Building Downtown.

Crawford said the branch’s seven employees will be relocated.

VyStar has moved 250 employees Downtown since buying the SunTrust Tower last year and another 250 will relocate by year-end, Crawford said.

The credit union also bought the former Life of the South Building next door at 100 W. Bay St. It is being renovated and 350 employees will move in starting in February.

In November, VyStar President and CEO Brian Wolfburg pledged to move up to 1,000 employees Downtown.

VyStar bought the 23-story SunTrust Tower in July 2018 for $59 million and the former Life of the South Building in February for $5 million.

Upgrades and improvements to the Life of the South Building include retail space on the first floor and rooftop.

SunTrust moved into leased space on the 32nd floor of Bank of America Tower at 50 N. Laura St.
