• The Duval County Democratic Executive Committee general meeting is scheduled for April 25 at 7 p.m. at the University of North Florida. Gubernatorial candidate Janet Reno is the speaker. The meeting is free and open to the public. The committee will hold a Gubernatorial Town Hall meeting May 6 at 7 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Institutional Church. Candidates scheduled to appear include attorney Bill McBride, State Rep. Lois Frankel, State Sen. Daryle Jones and South Florida activist Bob Kunst. For information, call 982-7564 or 721-9805.

• The City will sponsor Clean It Up Jacksonville June 1 with events held in various locations throughout the city. City Council president Matt Carlucci has introduced legislation which will combine funds from the mayor’s office and City Council for a marketing campaign consisting of television, print and radio advertising. Anyone wishing to participate should call 630-3420.

• Baptist Medical Center is hosting a Healing Festival Tuesday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-7 p.m. in the Library for Healing. There will be a special presentation at noon and another at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

• Pine Castle school has named its board members for 2002. They are Sue Butts, president and chair; John Campbell, first vice president; Ellen Morris, second vice president; David Lane, treasurer; Jennifer Young, secretary; Jon May, executive director; Andy Anderson, Dr. Thom Borowy, Mindy Hanna, James F.H. Henry, William Gene Hutson, Mary W. Jarrett, Greg Lechwar, Radhe Mittal, Marie Pena, J.B. Sasser Jr., Erin Shirley, Ted Spetnagel, Stan Tenenbaum and Bruce Trimble.

• Mayor John Delaney, City Council president Matt Carlucci and Supervisor of Elections John Stafford have made their appointments to the Duval County Election Advisory Panel, which will review voter registration and oversee the election process to ensure a fair, impartial and effective election. Delaney appointed Berrylin Houston, a community volunteer, Doug Milne, a partner in the law firm of Milne, Buckingham, Beardsley and McCorvey, and Isaiah Rumlin, president of the Jacksonville branch of the NAACP. Carlucci appointed Helen Ludwig, a community volunteer, attorney Mark Tippins and Hastings Williams, special assistant to the president and legislative liaison at Edward Waters College. Stafford appointed Jack Gillrup, chief of disabled services for the City, Dr. Henry Thomas, chair of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of North Florida, and Sylvia Schultz, director of education for the Supervisor of Elections Office.

• Florida Community College of Jacksonville will present its Spring Dance Concert April 19 and 20 at the Wilson Center for the Arts. Tickets are $8. For information, call 646-2361.
